When you cross the bridge over Rapid Creek on Chapel Lane heading south, you have just crossed the only street entrance "in" or "out" of our area known as Chapel Valley. There are four home owners associatons (HOAs) namely: Chapel Valley; Idlewilde; High Place and us - we are Chapel Lane Village. In addition, there are many individual homes in Chapel Valley as well special areas like Red Rock Canyon and others. All tolled, there are about 800 residences in these Chapel Valley Communities.
Here in the "Location" tab on this website, there is a map showing our
village lying along Chapel Lane Road. Over 100 families reside within the Association. Chapel Lane Road is owned and maintained by the City and leads to Stav Kirke Chapel dedicated in July of 1969. You can view it at
http://www.chapel-in-the-hills.org . Each year, more than 20,000 visitors and 100 wedding processionals traverse through our
village to visitthe Chapel.
Less than 3 years after the dedication of the Chapel, the Rapid City Flood took the lives of 238 souls and injured more than 3,000 persons in the Rapid City area. Many casualties were at the entrance to Chapel Valley. In remembrance, our community is now engaged in a plan of improvements taking us to the 50th anniversay of that flood in the year 2022. Our plan for Improvements is included throughout this website which was created mainly to update and communicate with members of this HOA .
